Internationally recognized as a model rehabilitation program, Melwood operates a training center graduating more than 60 workers with developmental disabilities each year, and employs approximately 1000 people with developmental disabilities in the Washington, D.C. area. Melwood is a dependable source of top quality services to the public and private sectors through contracts with Federal Government agencies, state, county and local governments, and with commercial firms. Melwood workers hold positions at more than 70 work sites, including NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the Smithsonian Museum.

Melwood's goal is to offer a good quality of life to more people with disabilities, who have historically been underemployed and barred from needed services, supports and personal freedoms needed to live full and rewarding lives. The Nationwide PGA Tour offers hope to many more of these individuals, as well as their friends and families, that they, too, will enjoy inclusion and independence.
